This policy covers visiting k4book.com, using its search facility and contacting us. You can read profiles and articles without registering. K4Book has no reader accounts or subscription form and does not process payments or delivery addresses for purchases made at external stores.

Data and purposes

Browsing and security. Delivering pages and images involves technical information such as your IP address, browser type, request time and requested resource. Hosting, content delivery and protection services may process this information and produce technical logs. It is used to keep the site available, diagnose errors and prevent abuse. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in providing a functioning, secure website, with processing limited to that purpose.

Searches. Search terms are sent to the server to locate books and articles. They may appear in the page address, your browser history and technical request logs. They are not used to create an advertising profile. Avoid entering personal or sensitive information. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in answering the search you request.

Correspondence. If you write to us, we process your email address, any name you choose to provide and the message to respond, manage corrections or handle rights requests. Include only necessary information. The usual basis is the legitimate interest in handling your communication; data protection requests also involve compliance with legal obligations. Without a reply address or enough information, we may be unable to resolve your request. We do not use these messages for advertising.

Cookies and automated decisions

K4Book does not incorporate behavioural advertising tools or its own analytics or marketing cookies. It does not build personal reading profiles or make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on visitors. Changing the website language does not require a user account.

Your browser provides controls for cookies and site storage. Merely visiting this website does not constitute consent to future processing. If we introduce a feature that requires consent, we will explain it and request consent before enabling it.

Recipients

Categories of recipients include hosting and content delivery providers, protection and technical diagnostic services, email providers and image delivery services. They receive information needed for their role; processing on our behalf must be subject to appropriate instructions and safeguards. Information may also be disclosed to competent authorities when legally required.

Some book covers load from external servers. Your browser communicates your IP address and the request information needed to deliver the image directly to that operator. This can happen when viewing a page without clicking a purchase link. Contact us for more specific information about recipients of your data.

Links to stores and other websites

Source and retailer links open websites governed by their own privacy policies. Some commercial links contain an affiliate identifier attributing the referral to K4Book. It does not contain a name or email address you provided to this website. A retailer may process browsing and attribution information after you visit it. K4Book does not receive the payment or shipping details you enter there. Review the destination's policy before providing personal information.

Processing outside the EEA

Hosting and content delivery infrastructure may process data outside the European Economic Area, including the United States and other countries where its providers operate. The safeguards provided for hosting include adequacy mechanisms recognised by the European Commission and, for transfers not covered by them, standard contractual clauses and applicable supplementary measures. External image operators and websites you visit through links may also process data internationally under their own policies.

Retention

Technical information is kept for as long as needed to provide the service, diagnose incidents and address justified security needs. Correspondence is retained while needed to resolve and follow up the inquiry. Where a legal duty or a need to address liabilities applies, only the necessary information is retained for the applicable period, with restricted access. It is then deleted or anonymised. These criteria do not authorise indefinite retention of a reading history.

Your rights

You may request access, correction and erasure, and restriction or objection where applicable. Portability applies in the circumstances provided by law. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Email contact@k4book.com with the right you wish to exercise and enough information to locate the processing. Do not send a copy of an identity document pre-emptively; additional information will only be requested if there are reasonable doubts about identity. We will respond within the legal period, normally one month, and explain any applicable extension.
