Garafía

Synopsis

Drawing on his grandparents’ history, Elías Taño follows a family divided by poverty and migration after the Spanish Civil War. A grandfather leaves La Palma for Venezuela, while a grandmother raises the family at home. Their separate struggles connect intimate memory with exploitation, political violence and the costs of searching for a livelihood overseas.
